Meet Reza Zakhireh, D.M.D.

Dr. Zakhireh has been an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon since 1982. He has been practicing successfully in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in Houston for the past 30 years. Born October 21, 1953, Reza and his wife, Sherry, live in Houston with their children, Mona, Amir and Bobby.

Dr. Zakhireh graduated from dental school with multiple awards, and he achieved first standing in his class. His accomplishments resulted in the award of a full scholarship to The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Here he completed a one-year internship at the University of Pennsylvania in anesthesiology. Then he continued his studies in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery from 1979 to1982. He did his internship in this field at The University of Alabama Hospital, Birmingham.

Dr. Zakhireh completed one year of residency at The University of Alabama Hospital, and his accomplishments were recognized by his appointment as Chief Resident in 1982 at the University of Alabama Hospital and the VA Hospital in Birmingham. He completed the Texas State Board Dental Exam in 1982.

Dr. Zakhireh was certified to administer IV sedation and general anesthesia by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners in 1983. Dr. Zakhireh passed the Florida State Bench Exam in December, 1982. He also passed the Tennessee State Board of Dentistry Bench Examination in 1982.

Dr. Zakhireh obtained the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners Teaching Permit and the California Dental Board Accreditation in 2004.

In the past 30 years Dr. Zakhireh has held multiple hospital affiliations: West Houston Medical Center; Memorial City General Hospital; Sunbelt Regional Hospital; Spring Branch Medical Center; Heights General Hospital; and San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Dr. Zakhireh has held many professional memberships including: American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; Texas Society of Oral and  Maxillofacial Surgeons; The American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; Houston Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; American Dental Society of Anesthesiology; Texas Dental Society; Houston District Dental Society; American Dental Association; and International Association of Dentofacial Abnormalities.

Dr. Zakhireh has satisfactorily completed the Emergency and Anesthesia Office Evaluation by the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in November 2012 and was granted Certification of Office Anesthesia Evaluation by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Biography

 

Dr. Deeba Sarah Azhar DDS,MD is originally from the Clear Lake area, and upon completion of extensive training as an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon, is very excited to return back to the area. She enjoys spending time with her two-year-old son, Noah, and husband, Adam.

Dr. Azhar completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Houston Honor’s Program with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Minor in Chemistry. She then received her DDS from the University of Texas School of Dentistry, and graduated in 2010 at the top of her class with multiple awards including the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Student Award, the American Association of Dental Research Outstanding Student Award, and the University of Texas  Kroger Research Scholarship Award.

Her passion and commitment for Oral Surgery, led her to further her education by joining the dual degree Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program at the University of Texas School of Dentistry. In addition, she completed an MD degree from University of Texas Medical School and a one-year General Surgery internship at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. She is also certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support.  She is currently eligible for the board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

During the six-year residency program, she had extensive surgical and anesthesia experience managing complex patients at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, VA Hospital, and Shriner’s Hospital.

She gained great surgical experience with dentoalveolar surgery, including extractions, implants, pre-prosthetic surgery, sinus lifts, as well as facial trauma, facial cosmetic surgery, management of simple and complex pathology, orthognathic surgery, and management of TMJ disorders.

Training at one of the top medical centers in the world, allowed her to gain the most up to date knowledge on advancements in both medicine and dentistry. She continued her quest for knowledge and to stay up to date on these advancements by conducting multiple research presentations throughout residency at national conferences at the American Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Southwest Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery meetings.
